How to build a Solar Sauna Raft w. Colin Furze

Hello! I'm in Gothenburg, Sweden, with
Victron Energy and we are currently installing solar panels in a sauna raft.
Let's go have a look. Now, the reason we are putting solar
panels and a television in a sauna boat is because the Swedes love their saunas, but they want to see their team win a gold medal in ice skating or skiing. But they're not going to do that if they got no power. Now Mick Ronson's team have been busy installing the solar system into the raft.

We've got the panels on the roof, they've
laid all the cable and there's various other components which have been installed which make the whole system work. So let's go and see and I'll talk you through it. Now all the energy is stored inside a
battery, but it's not just any battery it's the Victron LFE smart battery. Yes!
The lithium ion phosphate found in this has great cycling ability, which basically means you can charge it over and over again and it won't reduce its capacity.

Now,
it's pretty cold out here and that can reduce a battery's ability to hold its
charge, but it doesn't matter because with their app you can see what power
you've got all the time. It's as if they literally knew it was going to get
installed in a cold sauna in the middle of a lake in Sweden. Now before we choose our battery we need to know what size of
battery we need, and for that we need to know what it's going to be powering. In our setup we're going to have two tellies and a light at 50 watts each, so
that's a hundred and fifty watts.

But we can add a little bit extra: an extra
100 watts for people to charge phones and just plug extra bits and bobs
in. Now then, we've got 250 watts in a sauna on one session. You'd probably want
to be in there for about five hours and maybe two sessions in a day, so
that's 10 hours of 250 watts, which if you add all that up is 2,500 watts or
2.5 Kilowatt hours. So we need a battery that can give us 2.5 Kilowatt hours.

Yesterday they were busy installing these solar panels on the roof. Now they've put them on aluminium
profiles because it's good to have an air gap underneath the solar panel for
heat dissipation. Of course they want to be facing upwards and hopefully to the
sun. Where is the Sun gone? Gone! But you don't just install any solar panel.
You need to do calculations so you get the right one.

Calculations! So we've got
our 2.5 Kilowatt hour battery we need to charge. On average you get about
5.5 Hours of optimal sunlight in a day so if we divide that up, a 600 watt solar
panel should do the job. Victor has got an online calculator to work out the
best system for where you live. The EasySolar system which we are
installing has an MPPT charger and an inverter inside it.

However, if you are
installing a fixed electrical system you need a certified installer to do the
process for legal insurance and safety reasons. That's why I'm not doing it and I've got this fella. Now you're gonna need yourself a charge controller and an inverter. All comes
in one box.

The inverter basically converts the battery power into mains
power, and the charge controller uses a maximum power point tracking algorithm
which basically deals with all the power from the solar panels and distributes it
into the battery according to the conditions. Now you need to size these up.
We've got 600 Watts worth of solar panels and a 12 volt battery. Divide 600
by 12, gives you 50, we need a 50 amp charge controller. If you need help

Right, everything's fitted. We've got solar panels on the
roof, we've got the battery and we've got the inverter charger. Now, last base is
this color control unit that's gonna get fitted on the wall and what this
basically does give you all the information: tells us our battery's 100%
we're drawing 24 watts of power from the solar panels, and it's not that bright,
which is great, and this one zero whatts, that's because we got nothing
connected. That's the next job.

Right, everything's connected. Let's give
it a test: three, two one, yes! Let's have a sauna party.
The coat can come off! There we are: a solar-powered floating

How Near Infrared (NIR) Sauna Therapy Can Help Your Body Detox Naturally

Hey, guys. Josh Macin here from The Detox Dudes coming
to you ass naked inside my Near Infrared Sauna. I want to talk to you about an extremely important
method of detox  sauna therapy. Okay Ive tried almost all of them.

Ive done some sweat lodges over in Colorado,

So saunas are extremely and sweating are extremely
important because the skin is the largest organ in our body and when you release toxins
through the skin, which all studies and science have shown is for sure possible, um you give
your kidneys and liver the much-needed rest that they really, really desperately need. With our toxic onslaught in our foods and
everything, our kidneys and liver are really taking the brunt of that stress. So really important to give them a break. You know its very important to decongest
the skin.

Theres tons of toxins basically sitting
on just on the inner lining of our skin that are begging to come out. And if were not exercising, were sitting
in an office all day, its really, really hard to allow those toxins to come out. So the benefits of near infrared sauna are
that it acts as an antioxidant for the brain and for the skin and for all your cells. It actually activates your cells at a very
deep level and tells them to start you know working harder and start bumping the toxic
load.

Another important part of all sauna therapy
is something called hyperthermia, which is basically allowing or triggering the fever
response. Right? When we get sick, our body goes into that
fever mode creating internal heat to help kill of pathogenic bacteria or viruses. So you can control that situation and basically
create a fever in your own body to help boost your immune system. So really all saunas are amazing.

Youll feel rejuvenated after them. I think its really important to bring a
towel with you inside and continuously rub off all of the sweat that you got going on
so it doesnt get reabsorbed back into your skin you know. Like we take magnesium oil on the skin because
the skin is such a powerful method of delivering nutrients to the brain. So you know its not the best when you have
metals and plastics floating around on your skin and you just kind of leave it there and
let it reabsorb into your bloodstream out into your skin.

So at the end of a sauna, I really, really
love taking a freezing cold shower. Cold therapy is really amazing and Ill
have a video about it but going from hot to cold is even more beneficial than cold therapy
itself. So yeah wipe your sweat off right away, try
and hop in a cold shower as quick as possible and just sit and relax and enjoy the benefits
of a near infrared sauna. Youll feel quite relaxed and rejuvenated
and its an extremely important part of the detox process.

You dont need to spend all this money on
a near infrared sauna. You can just buy the fixture, you can make
a fixture, you can make this outside canopy with some PVC pipe and you know any other
um you know like canvas blankets so theres more than one way to skin a cat. You dont have to spend a fortune. When I bought this, I was extremely ill and
didnt have the energy to build one.

So really awesome therapy, awesome addition

So, Stone, weve actually been getting some questions in lately regarding our saunas and I thought wed share one from David T., Who asks, How long would you recommend spending in the sauna before and after a workout?  Before and after I like to utilize the sauna more as a warm up. So, Ill go in there for about 5-10 minutes.

It actually heats my core temperature, it allows me to stretch a little bit more efficiently. I try not to stay in there for too long because I dont want to get dehydrated,  but afterwards, after your workout,  utilizing the sauna has a lot of benefits. It can actually decrease muscle soreness and it can actually decrease arthritic pains. The sauna does make you sweat a lot, right? Right.

So, you need to make sure the amount that youre sweating, you need to balance that with water. So Alan and I are gonna go around and ask people pronounce: "Sauna" Alright let's go. You all gonna get it right? I don't know. (Laughter) I believe a lot of people are just gonna say "sauna" and then we're gonna laugh at them. (Laughter) Oh hey.
